eBay is one of the most popular online marketplaces with high visitor numbers. Thanks to the familiar user interface, simple processing and proven buyer protection, the platform has a high customer traffic in Germany and around the world. Compared to store systems, online merchants do not have to acquire their buyers first, as a broad active customer base is already available.
Tip: If you already have a store system linked, you can ideally use eBay as an additional marketplace sales channel to extend your total addressable market.
You only need a valid private or commercial eBay account. However, since private eBay accounts are bound to a general sales limit, we recommend using a commercial account.
If you link your eBay account for the first time, a confirmation is required after the eBay login (eBay sets a cookie). You may unlink and re-link the cockpit, without further authentication. If you want to link another eBay account, it is important to log out of eBay after unlinking the first time and ideally delete the cookie.
When you register on eBay, you first have to store the payment methods for your customers. This is also necessary to synchronize your cockpit items and to allow placing orders.
Click on this link and add the desired payment options. Usually you can choose the options: bank account, credit or debit card and PayPal.
There is a general sales limit for private eBay accounts to prevent commercial abuse. Therefore we recommend the use of a commercial eBay account.
If you are a new seller on eBay, there is also a sales limit (10 items per month). You can increase the limit to 100 items per month. You have several options to increase the limit.
eBay has policies for sellers that set rules for shipping and return policies. When you link your eBay account to the Cockpit, a Shirtigo fulfillment policy is created and assigned to your Cockpit products. You can customize this policy in the Cockpit dashboard under "Shops" in the integration settings. After a few minutes eBay will apply the changes (also for synchronized Cockpit products).
With the Cockpit you can use the German eBay marketplaces ebay.de (Germany), ebay.at (Austria) and ebay.ch (Switzerland). Note: If you have a marketplace on ebay.de, theoretically customers from Austria can buy your products there. eBay.de-synced products, however, do not appear on eBay.at.
Multiple integrations are required to sell on multiple ebay marketplaces in parallel.
