DTF printing: More options for your product range

Use DTF printing for rich colors, fine details and reliable quality on almost any fabric - ideal for sophisticated designs and diverse product ranges.

What is DTF printing?

With DTF (direct-to-film) printing, your motif is first printed on a special film, then coated with powder adhesive and then transferred to the textile using a transfer press. The result: robust prints that are suitable for many materials and also adhere to difficult fabrics. DTF is particularly popular for mixed fabrics or motifs with bold colors and clear edges.

Suitable for almost all fabrics

Even polyester, mixed fabrics or difficult materials can be printed without any problems.

Extremely durable

Flexible & ready to go

Production from 1 piece - perfect for on-demand fulfillment without risk.

How does DTF printing work at Shirtigo?

1. motif print on foil

Your design is printed mirror-inverted on a transfer film using special DTF inks.

2. application of the adhesive powder

A fine powder is sprinkled onto the wet paint and then fixed with heat. This creates a robust transfer surface.

3. transfer to textile

The film is applied to the garment using a transfer press - the motif adheres securely to the fabric through heat and pressure.

4. peel off the film

After the pressing process, the film is peeled off. What remains is a hard-wearing, wash-resistant print.

What kind of motifs is DTF printing suitable for?

DTF is suitable if:

  • Your design contains small fonts, fine lines or detail work
  • You want to print on difficult materials such as polyester, nylon or caps
  • You use a lot of open spaces or lightly placed motifs
  • You do not want to pre-treat the textiles

DTF is less suitable if:

  • The motif is to be printed over a large area and almost the entire surface
  • You prefer a very soft, fabric-like feel
  • Your design consists of dense color areas or gradients
  • Comfort is particularly important for large prints
